homesick (april 27, 2009)

i’ve never been this far away

from home for so long

a strange feeling has set in

like a cloud of fog

i miss the city miss your food

miss lazing in the bed with you

now i sleep in the same

room as when i was little

and in this old town

every street is familiar

how does it feel to be back again

truth is, like crawling out of my skin

cause i’m homesick

for the colors of your skin in the morning light

i’m homesick

for the silly things we’d do like our pillow fights

for the smell of your hair

for the taste of your lips

for the sound of your voice

for your fingertips

baby, i’m so homesick for you

i remember the way

you used to sing so off key

or get things your way

making pouty faces at me

i miss your sister and your folks

your silly laugh and all your jokes

and i’m homesick

for the colors of your skin in the morning light

i’m homesick

for the silly things we’d do like our pillow fights

for the smell of your hair

for the taste of your lips

for the sound of your voice

for your fingertips

baby, i’m still homesick for you

well i’ve filed away all the good memories

but tell me what do i do with these shattered dreams?

cause i’m homesick

for the colors of your skin in the morning light

i’m homesick

for the silly things we’d do like our pillow fights

for the smell of your hair

for the taste of your lips

for the sound of your voice

for your fingertips

baby, i’m still homesick for you

homesick for you

baby maybe i’ll always be so homesick

so homesick for you
